Tis event offers sailing enthusiasts, four days of thrilling race action between St. Maarten, St. Barths and St. Eustatius, an event which continues to grow in population.

Statia Day activities align the streets in Oranjestad nightly, a national holiday which takes place annually.
November 16, 2016 – Statia Day
Statia Day is a national holiday which takes place annually on November 16th. It is known as a day of pump and frill. A day to reflect on Statia’s role in America’s history. But for most it is a day to celebrate the culture and heritage of Statia. The week leading up to Statia Day is a week full of celebrations and parties. Sing along, enjoy the island and commemorate the year 1776, in which St. Eustatius was the first country which recognized the independence of America. Uniformed groups parade through the streets. Sports and games are organized for children. And nightly performances are colourful, humorous and dynamic. Ceremonies are performed, a parade is walking by, children will be busy with playing sports activities. Everybody is welcome and no newspaper will leave this event unwritten. Be part of it and experience the day yourself!

December 15, 2016 – Christmas Red and White Parade
As traditional, the red and white parade is a local’s favorite. The dress code is typically red and white. This event includes various dance groups, some wearing Santa costumes and designed outfits suiting the theme.

Celebrations of former Dutch King Willem-Alexander. Cultural events, sports activities, picnics and music. Don’t forget to wear something Orange to blend in to the throng!

July 1, 2017 – Emancipation Day
Ceremonies and celebrations of the abolition of slavery. Emancipation Day is generally celebrated on the first of July. During this day, the inhabitants of St. Eustatius, as well as tourists, commemorate the abolition of slavery, with ceremonies and celebrations. It is the coming together of the community. Local food and drinks of Statia and other nationalities, including the Dominican Republic, Suriname, St. Kitts & Nevis, Guyana are showcased. The wearing of traditional clothing makes this event even more special. Come early and experience the beginning of the day at 6 am with an early morning Statian breakfast at the auxiliary home. Music is playing all day long and do not be afraid to dance a little.
July 19 – 31, 2017 – Statia Carnival
For two electrifying weeks carnival wakes up. The line-up offers a wide array of gifted artists. If you are a “Carnivalist”, a real “Bacchanalist” you can join in the fun on parade day or go to the shows and many festivals.
Every last Thursday – Statia Taste of the Cultures
A cross-cultural event, exhibiting multiple nationalities residing on the island. This is an event where ethnic groups are granted the opportunity to showcase what each destination has to offer, traditions, arts and crafts, food and drinks, music and entertainment.
